Organisations need to register to use the CRU service because as a CRB umbrella body we are acting on your behalf and taking responsibility that you can comply with the legislative Code of Practice.
IMPORTANT: If you are offering under 8 day care provision AND are CSSIW registered please read Regulated day care provision for children.
There are two simple steps to becoming a registered WCVA CRU user:
STEP 1: establish that you are entitled to use the FREE CRU service
CRU free service is open to ANY voluntary sector organisation within Wales but we do need to confirm voluntary sector status. We do this by:
- Asking for your WCVA membership number, if appropriate
- Checking against the listing on WCVA's All Wales Database of voluntary organisations within Wales
- Using a checklist of voluntary sector conditions
If you are unsure of your voluntary sector entitlement you can check this yourself from the voluntary sector checklist in resources below
Even if you aren't a voluntary organisation, you can still register to use our charged service
We also ask if your organisation is likely to recruit staff (volunteers and/or paid employees) into positions that involve working with children and/or vulnerable adults.
Step 2: signing and returning a registration agreement
The registration agreement sets out what you can expect from CRU and to what your organisation must commit in order to comply with the legislative CRB Code of Practice.
We need to ensure that the registration agreement is signed at an appropriate level and that your organisation already has in place, or can adopt, the relevant policies and is able to meet the other conditions of the Code.
You can download the model policies that will be required for registration from the resources below.
If you are a stand alone organisation (not part of a larger regional / national /umbrella organisation)and would like to register your organisation go to How to register.
If you are part of a larger organisation then we advise that the person who can take responsibility for all area/local offices completes the registration. It may be that this person would be best placed to initiate the registration enquiry.
Please contact us if you need further advice or would prefer to register by telephone
